Following the CM call on the Agriculture Mission in the Wasteland, the Department of Agriculture is drafting a people’s plan. The State Agriculture Department will implement various karma projects with the participation of the youth, through a peoples’ group. Paddy, fruit vegetables, tubers, cereals and pulses are targeted for growth. The department has devised action plans aimed at preventing food shortages and food shortages after the lock down.
The prime objective is to make 25000 hectares of fallow land cultivable. The project will have the coordination of the state agriculture department, local self government, irrigation department, cooperative department and animal welfare departments and NGO.As a part of this project, youths who want to take over fallow lands and come back to agriculture, return from abroad, Kudumbasree units, NGOs and farmers. The following numbers should be contacted in the respective districts, including information on the farmer’s name, address and the area under which the crops are intended to be cultivated. The land owners who own the wasteland should also inform the cell that this district has been set up at district level.
