For those with an annual income of up to Rs 120,000, the maximum loan amount is Rs 5 lakh and the interest rate is 7.50 per cent. The repayment period is said to be up to 15 years. The second category is those with an annual income of Rs 120,000 to Rs 3 lakh. The maximum loan amount is Rs 10 lakh. The interest rate is 8%.

The loan can be used only for building new houses. Therefore, this amount cannot be used to buy a plot of land or to renovate the house. The loan is available in three installments. Upon completion of the basement, 30% of the amount will be received in the first installment. 40% of the second installment will be received when the work lint for the construction of a one-storey house is completed and in the case of a two-story house, the roof of the first floor will be completed. The remaining 30% will be available only when all the work on the house plan is completed, i.e. only when the finishing works are completed. Construction must begin within one year of receiving the first installment. Benefit to all OBC categories. But not available to those in the general category.
Applications can be obtained from the District Offices of Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation Limited. Documents required include a copy of the ration card of the applicant and co-applicant, a copy of the Aadhar card of both the parties, a copy of the tax payment receipt, a certificate proving the age of the caste, an income certificate from the village office, a plan for the construction of the house and a copy of the estimate permit bank passbook with the application. The land on which the house is to be built is to be pledged. Therefore, all those who are eligible in the place will be the guarantors. If the value of the land is more than the loan, official guarantee and fixed deposit LIC policy will be considered as collateral.
